Company’s Garden Park and Heritage Site

The Company’s Garden, once a vegetable farm in the 1600s, is the oldest garden in South Africa. Today it’s an oasis in the heart of the city and home to a fishpond, the national art gallery, museum and planetarium, as well as a Japanese garden and aviary.

Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden

With over 7000 species of plants, the garden is is internationally acclaimed as one of the seven most magnificent botanical gardens in the world. A picnic and a walk on the Boomslang, a raised walkway that navigates through the trees, is a must-do when visiting. There are often art exhibitions and outdoor concerts in the garden.

Silvermine Nature Reserve

This reserve is popular for hiking, picnics, mountain biking and even swimming (in a dam). It makes for a great stopover en route to Simon’s Town, with beautiful views along the way.
