The President Hotel's SA vs Mexico Viewing Event

President Hotel

07 June 2026

On Thursday, 11 June 2026, The President Hotel will host a gathering in Senate Bar as guests come together to celebrate the opening ceremony and South Africa vs Mexico match in an atmosphere shaped by local favourites alongside Mexican food and drinks.

From 18h00, guests can settle in for an evening that brings together food, music, art and football. Drawing inspiration from both South African and Mexican culture, the menu will feature tacos, churros as well as Bobotie Samoosas and Lamb Riblets, accompanied by signature local cocktails and, of course, margaritas.

Set within the relaxed surroundings of Senate Bar, the experience reflects The President Hotel's approach to social occasions: considered, welcoming and connected to the creative energy of Cape Town.

A welcome drink will greet guests on arrival, while the menu celebrates flavours from both nations ahead of kick-off at 21h00. Throughout the evening, a live DJ will set the tone with a soundtrack of South African favourites and crowd-pleasing classics.

At the heart of the event is a live mural painting by South African contemporary artist Kamohelo Blessing Rooi.

Born in Gauteng and based in Soweto, Blessing's work explores memory, identity and community through expressive colour and figurative storytelling. His ongoing body of work, Kasiflavour, draws inspiration from everyday township life, capturing moments of friendship, fashion, music and reflection through a distinctly contemporary lens.

Throughout the evening, guests will have the opportunity to watch a large-scale artwork take shape in real time as Blessing transforms a feature wall within Senate Bar. As the match unfolds, so too will the artwork, creating a visual record of an evening centred on culture, creativity and connection.

The event forms part of The President Hotel's ongoing programme of cultural and community-led experiences. From exhibitions and live performances to seasonal events and local collaborations, the hotel continues to create opportunities for guests and locals to come together in meaningful ways.

As the opening ceremony unfolds and the match begins, guests can settle into an evening that pairs the excitement of international football with good food, contemporary South African art and the easy-going atmosphere of Cape Town's Atlantic Seaboard.
