Art, Food and Football Come Together at The President Hotel

Football, food and local creativity came together at Senate Bar as The President Hotel hosted a special World Cup Opening Ceremony and South Africa vs Mexico viewing event. Guests enjoyed South African and Mexican-inspired flavours, live music and a live mural painting by contemporary artist Kamohelo Blessing Rooi, creating an evening that celebrated culture, community and connection alongside the game.

On Thursday, 11 June 2026, The President Hotel’s Senate Bar will set the scene for an evening where football, culture and creativity come together. Guests can expect a South Africa vs Mexico viewing experience paired with a curated fusion menu, live DJ sets and a welcome drink on arrival, all building towards kick-off at 21h00. At the centre of the evening, contemporary artist Kamohelo Blessing Rooi will create a live mural in real time, turning the space into a visual expression of identity, memory and connection as the match unfolds.
Connecting Young Capetonians to the Ocean

Ahead of World Oceans Day, The President Hotel partnered with Kirshia Govender and local tour operators to host Paddle Our Community, a kayaking experience introducing 50 learners from Philippi Village to Cape Town’s ocean environment. Launching from Three Anchor Bay, the group paddled along the coastline and experienced sightings of dolphins, penguins and other marine life. The initiative reflects The President Hotel’s commitment to creating meaningful community experiences that connect people with the natural environment.
