We've just completed a major milestone in our sustainability journey with a R15 million investment in cutting-edge renewable energy infrastructure!

Why This Matters to Us As one of Africa's largest Green Key certified hotels, environmental responsibility isn't just a trend for us - it's been at the heart of who we are for over a decade. Our #StayGreen commitment drives everything we do, from the smallest operational decisions to major investments like this solar project. The timing couldn't be more perfect. With Zero Emissions Day approaching on 21 September, we're proud to be taking concrete action that aligns with global sustainability efforts while addressing the very real energy challenges we face here in Cape Town.

What We've Installed Working alongside our partners AOCon Consulting Engineers and Forest Energy, we've implemented something truly special:

The Technology: - State-of-the-art Hybrid SigenStack system with 1.2 MWh gateway and 1.2 MWh battery storage

- 140 kWp solar PV ballast system installed on our rooftop

- Advanced six-layer battery protection with fire suppression systems

The Experience: Here's what makes us unique in the hospitality industry - we've created a dedicated viewing area in our first-floor garage where you can actually watch our renewable energy system in action! A real-time display screen shows solar production, hotel consumption, and battery levels, giving you a behind-the-scenes look at our sustainability efforts.

The Impact We're Making The numbers speak for themselves, and we're incredibly proud of what this means for our environmental footprint: • 145 tonnes of CO2 emissions prevented annually – that's equivalent to planting 4,325 trees! • 9,000 litres of diesel eliminated during power outages • 20% of our total power requirements now generated on-site • Uninterrupted operations during load shedding for our guests

What's Coming Next We're not stopping here! The system goes live in early October, perfectly timed with the reopening of our completely renovated poolside area. You'll be able to enjoy our lush new local landscaping, brand-new kids' play area and revamped Deck Bar. The launch coincides with Energy Efficiency Day on October 1st, making it an even more meaningful moment for us as we continue leading the way in sustainable hospitality.
