The President Hotel has implemented numerous eco-friendly initiatives that demonstrate our commitment to environmental stewardship. Did we mention we are the largest independent hotel in Sub-Saharan Africa to be Green Key certified?

ENERGY CONSERVATION

Our state-of-the-art energy management systems reduce consumption throughout our luxury Cape Town accommodation. Rooms have energy-saving switches and we encourage guests and staff to turn lights and air conditioning off when leaving rooms.

WASTE REDUCTION

We've significantly decreased single-use plastics across our operations, implemented comprehensive recycling programmes, and partnered with local organisations to ensure minimal environmental impact. We’ve replaced plastic water bottles in the hotel with plant-based and glass bottles to encourage recycling and reuse and to minimise waste. In terms of food waste, we work from real-time occupancy forecasts so we don’t over-cater. Our food waste is diverted from landfill and transformed into organic fertiliser.
